Ten jockeys race 3 laps on the ring of tuff earth of Piazza del Campo: the celebrations of the winner district begin as soon as the horse crosses the finish line of Costarella and culminate with the delivery of the Palio.
The Palio is held twice a year, on July 2 and August 16: visit the city of Siena in the four days preceding the race is the best way to experience the charm of a centuries-old tradition and observe the life of the people of Siena.
